“For He bruises, but He binds up;

He wounds, but His hands make whole.”

Job 5:18

Every time, right after the Bible talks about bruises and breaking, it talks about God binding us up. Isn’t that beautiful? Nothing ever happens that God doesn’t heal us and make it beautiful.

But how about us? Sometimes it’s necessary to say the hard things. As long as we say it in love, God can work through our words. And yet, there are some people who might take our words incorrectly. In the family of God, it is our job to look out for times when someone may be hurting, even if we think they shouldn’t be hurting. And that’s when it’s our turn to be God’s hands and feet to heal them.

“That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ.”

Ephesians 4:14-15

It’s a funny thing, that healing that we give to others is actually the best way to heal ourselves as well. Alcoholics Anonymous, responsible for helping millions recover from alcohol addictions, is led by people who used to be alcoholics themselves. Somehow, being around people who are where you once were is a constant reminder of how far God has brought you.

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”

Matthew 10:8

Don’t expect for this healing to happen right away though. God takes us through everything as if it’s a process, a journey, and in the journey we learn lessons we’d have never dreamed of if He’d healed us right away. One day Jesus is going to come again in the clouds, and take us to heaven with Him, and then He will eternally heal all our brokenness.

But it’s not until after 1,000 years that the Bible says God will wipe away all our tears. I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe that we need those 1,000 years to fully heal from all the years we’ve spent on this sinful earth. After all that time, our pain will be forever gone.

“And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’”

Revelation 21:3-4

This concludes this series (part 1 is here; part 2 is here).
