God’s Unmerited Gift
Grace is one of the most beautiful things God gives us. It means that God loves us, forgives us, and gives us what we don’t deserve. We don’t have to earn God’s grace or be perfect before we can receive it. Grace is simply God showing us His love and mercy.
Sometimes we can feel like we have messed up too much or that we aren’t good enough for God. But grace reminds us that our mistakes don’t make God stop loving us. He still wants us to come to Him, even when we fall short.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” This verse reminds me that salvation isn’t something I can earn. It is a gift from God. All I have to do is put my faith in Him.
Grace also gives us strength when we feel weak. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” I love this verse because it reminds me that I don’t have to have everything together. Even in my weakest moments, God’s grace is enough.
Another verse that really shows God’s grace is Romans 3:23-24, which says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” We all make mistakes and fall short, but God doesn’t leave us there. Through Jesus, He gives us forgiveness and a new beginning.
Grace also teaches us how to treat other people. If God is willing to forgive us and show us mercy, then we should learn to show that same grace to others. That doesn’t mean ignoring what people do wrong, but it means choosing forgiveness, love, and kindness instead of holding onto anger.
At the end of the day, grace is a reminder that God’s love isn’t based on how perfect we are. We will make mistakes, we will have bad days, and sometimes we will fall. But God’s grace is always there to help us get back up.
John 1:16 says, “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”
I’m thankful that God gives us grace every single day. We don’t have to earn it—we just have to receive it. His grace reminds us that no matter what we’ve done or how far we may feel, we can always turn back to Him. God’s grace is enough.
"God's grace is sufficient to overcome every trial and temptation." -Ellen G. White
